WHEREAS America is on the verge of a moral collapse, as expressed as the “New Morality” and might more properly be called “amorality” leading to “immorality,’ and

WHEREAS the acceptance of an amoral position has produced, especially in the last half decade, a lower level of moral standards, a higher level of crime and a breakdown of integrity and honesty in business, social and political life, and

WHEREAS there seems to be a close relationship between this moral deterioration and the current escalation of erroneous concepts of love and sex presented by the screen, TV, the press and the stage in the release of the licentious and the obscene, producing what might be described as an idolatry of sex, and

WHEREAS history records that nations which have experienced moral and spiritual collapse have perished,

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the N.A.E. call its constituency to prayer, and spiritual renewal by calling all our people to holiness of body, soul and spirit and a life of integrity.

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we call upon regional and state committees to cooperate with the more than 300 Organizations across the nation that are functioning in a declaration against this moral deterioration or to initiate a campaign of protest against pornography and entertainment which would be interpreted as amoral or immoral in character.

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we request our law makers to strengthen our laws and tighten our controls against all types of literature and activities which stimulate and condone sexual promiscuity.

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we urge all pastors of the N.A.E. constituency to promote the observance of the family altar and to give themselves anew to a ministry of family counseling, advising parents to give clear instruction and close supervision to their children in preparing them to face the pressures of perversion within our society.

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we accept the urgency of this situation and the importance of these resolutions to the preserving and the strengthening of our beloved nation and her influence for good around the world.

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we again commit ourselves to the Bible as the basis of our code of ethics, especially as expressed in the Ten Commandments and the Sermon on the Mount and call all Americans to confession of sin, to spiritual revival and to godly living as essential to a changed society.
