We are pleased to share a few of the ways your support is making a transformational impact for the kingdom of God. Featured below are brief video testimonials from individuals who experienced firsthand some of the NAE’s work in recent months. Our hope and prayer is that you will be encouraged and inspired by what you see and read, and that you will share this report with others.
Difficult Conversations
Earlier this fall, the NAE launched a new podcast series called Difficult Conversations. This documentary-style series features remarkable stories of people who’ve taken risks for the sake of building bridges, as well as experts who share why it’s hard to have difficult conversations, how to have them, and why it matters for the kingdom of God. Derwin Gray, founding and lead pastor of Transformation Church (Charlotte, NC) was one of the participants. Watch his testimonial.
Lausanne Conference
In late September, more than 5,000 Christians from 200+ countries gathered in Seoul, South Korea, for Lausanne’s Fourth Congress on World Evangelism. This is the 50th anniversary of the Lausanne Movement, the largest gathering of Protestant Christians worldwide. Your support made it possible for three NAE staff to participate in this gathering, including NAE President Walter Kim, Director of Spiritual Care Toni Kim and Global Church Representative Terri Miller. Also present were 24 leaders from the NAE board of directors. At the NAE, we are deeply committed to the global evangelical movement as our participation in the wider Body of Christ. Because of you, we are empowered to fulfill this commitment through significant gatherings like Lausanne. Watch Terri’s testimonial.
Border Trip
Recently, the NAE organized a trip for Christian leaders to the U.S.-Mexico border in collaboration with the nonprofit organization Border Perspective. The purpose of this service-learning experience was to educate and mobilize people of faith to thoughtfully respond to the complex challenge and opportunity of immigration. Bishop Omar Medina is founder and president of Community of Faith Collaborative, which serves as a bridge to connect the Latino faith-based community to the broader civil society. Watch Omar’s testimonial about his experience on the border trip.
In addition to these initiatives, your generous support has also enabled us to:
- Launch the “Policy Matters” newsletter, which provides up-to-date developments on policy proposals that the NAE is tracking in Congress, shared through the lens of Scripture. Sign up today!
- Produce a new What Is An Evangelical? video, which features a diverse group of leaders who speak to the distinctive aspects of evangelical identity and purpose.
- Host the second annual spiritual retreat for leaders of color who steward racial justice and multiethnic ministry efforts in majority white spaces. Dr. Christina Edmondson was the guest speaker, and participants were welcomed into a confidential setting where they could share their joys and challenges with one another and be rejuvenated for ministry.
- Inspire Christians around the country with a vision for the comprehensive gospel. NAE President Walter Kim addressed multiple audiences with talks on The Gospel and Public Life, Discipleship and Political Life, and The Gospel for Tumultuous Times.
- Advocate for the five-year reauthorization of PEPFAR (the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief). PEPFAR is the largest commitment by any nation to address a single disease in history and has been enabled by strong bipartisan support across 10 U.S. congresses and four presidential administrations. This work is just one expression of the NAE’s commitment to seeking justice and compassion for the poor and vulnerable.
