After weeks of negotiations, diplomatic talks between Iran and the United States broke down, followed by coordinated U.S. and Israel strikes on Iranian military and nuclear‑linked sites on February 28, 2026. Iran responded with missile and drone attacks across the Middle East. At the National Association of Evangelicals, we grieve the loss of lives and the devastation of war, and we join with Christians around the world in urgently praying for a just and lasting peace in the region.

Please join us in praying:

  1. For the safety of all people, especially innocent civilians impacted by the conflict, that they would experience God as a refugee and fortress (Psalm 91).
  2. For the protection of the persecuted church in Iran (Matthew 5:9–10).
  3. For the restoration of order and security in Iran, Israel and throughout the Middle East (Isaiah 32:17–18).
  4. For the provision of urgently needed humanitarian aid to all who are suffering (Psalm 146:7–9).
  5. For comfort for those who are grieving, that they will be comforted (Matthew 5:4).
  6. For wisdom and guidance for all engaged in diplomacy, that their efforts would lead to a just and lasting peace (Proverbs 2:6).
  7. For leaders and authorities, that they would act justly, love mercy and walk humbly — surrendering themselves to God’s ways (Micah 6:8).
  8. For the worldwide church, that we would be salt and light, doing good for the glory of God (Matthew 5:16).
  9. For the unity, strengthening and faithful witness of the church in the Middle East (John 17:20–23).
  10. For the world, that even today, people in this region and across the globe would choose to follow Jesus, who is the Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6).

We pray that the Lord would be gracious to the world — that he would bless us, turn his face towards us, and give us peace (Numbers 6:24–26). We remember that “He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth. He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire. He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth’” (Psalm 46:9–10).
