The National Association of Evangelicals thanks members of Congress for repealing the 21 percent tax on parking and transportation benefits provided by churches and other nonprofits to their employees. The NAE worked with a broad coalition of religious and charitable nonprofits to push for the repeal.

“This is a tax that should never have been imposed, and we are thankful Congress has overturned it,” said Galen Carey, NAE vice president of government relations. “Churches and charities will now have more resources available for serving their communities.”

The NAE calls on Congress to take the next step in tax reform by supporting the universal charitable deduction. This would encourage every taxpayer, regardless of income, to give to charitable causes.
