We are delighted to formally invite you to The Great Objects Gathering 2022. Beginning in 2009, GOG has convened leaders from across the country for conversations around the intersection of faith and social concern. The inspiration for our invitation and our desire to gather is the felt need for actionable unity amid the division that has arisen in the evangelical tradition. This gathering is meant for us all to leave equipped that we may practice our reconciliatory intentions within our congregations, our followers, our friends, and our families.

During this year’s gathering, we will learn a framework for facilitating difficult conversations and explore the question: How do we work through profound disagreements with people who want to follow Jesus most of all?

We recognize that multiple difficult conversations are happening in the Church and that is wearying. How can we be a people who move towards one another in difficulty, not apart? We aim for this time to be focused on the issues that are challenging church unity in this particular cultural moment. Our hope is that this time will be restorative to your soul, equip you in your leadership, and provide opportunities for relationship building and collaboration with other Evangelical leaders.

Though we convene with the understanding that we will not leave our time in full agreement, we can leave with a commitment to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which we have been called (Ephesians 4:1).

To ensure transparency and intimacy, we intentionally keep these gatherings small and off record. Participants will be a blend of past attendees as well as new voices that we believe offer vital perspectives and diverse lived experiences. Those in attendance will represent a broad spectrum of political and ideological views, but all are grounded in Christian orthodoxy.
