Pastors, church leaders, ministry staff and other Christians who are committed to prayer will come together in Washington, D.C., for a powerful time of worship and prayer for our nation this October. We will humbly seek the Lord in repentance, and ask him to renew the Church’s witness as we seek the health of our nation and the flourishing of all God’s people.

God is calling us to unite. Will you join us?

Division seems to infiltrate every layer of society, even our churches. So much of our attention and angst is horizontally focused on our fellow human beings, but Scripture teaches that “our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 6:12). We are exhorted to put on the various pieces of God’s armor and commanded to “pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests” (Ephesians 6:18).

Therefore, our goal is to pray. Not to argue about politics or policies, not to fret about the divisions among Christians or the rancor of our national rhetoric, but to come before the Lord in our shared need for him to work in us, among us and through us.

We may not agree with each other about everything, but we agree that Jesus Christ is our head, we are his Body, and we need each other in order to fulfill God’s mission in our lives, communities and nation. Brief reflections from Scripture will guide our times of individual, small group and corporate prayer for our nation.
