In a letter to President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, NAE President Walter Kim joined other faith leaders in calling attention to the Ukrainian children who have been forcibly taken by Russia, urging our nation’s leaders to ensure the safe return of these vulnerable children.

Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, President Vladimir Putin has ordered the removal of nearly 20,000 Ukrainian children to Russia and Russian-controlled territories. As the letter outlines, these children have been subjected to forced assimilation into Russian society. We celebrate that in a recent phone conversation with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy, President Trump promised to prioritize the return of these children.

Evangelicals know that every child, according to Genesis 1, is made in the image of God, and we join faith leaders in urging the administration to act swiftly on behalf of these Ukrainian children and families.
