WHEREAS, the report of the United States Surgeon General on the use of tobacco has indicated that the smoking of cigarettes is a health hazard and a major cause of lung cancer and other death-dealing diseases, and
WHEREAS, medical authorities are agreed on the deleterious effects of alcoholic beverages on the health of our society, and
WHEREAS, radio and television have become a focal point in the American home,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the National Association of Evangelicals favors legislation to eliminate the advertising of tobacco and alcoholic beverages over radio and television.
