With increasing concern we note that the use of beverage alcohol is rapidly becoming one of the most insidious sins of society; furthermore that the liquor interests have through the various promotional and advertising media invaded the sanctity and security of our homes.

Inasmuch as the traffic in beverage alcohol has increased crime and has contributed greatly to the moral and spiritual degeneration of our nation and the dissolution of the American home and,

Inasmuch as the drinking driver continually jeopardizes the lives of all those who travel on the streets and highways of our land and,

Inasmuch as it is an acknowledged fact that alcoholism has become one of the major medical problems of our day therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED THAT this 17th annual convention of the National Association of Evangelicals go on record as opposing the use of alcoholic beverage in any form.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT each constituent body of the National Association of Evangelicals be encouraged to initiate, or carry on an active educational program throughout its constituency and the sphere of its influence against the use of alcoholic beverages.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the constituent bodies of the National Association of Evangelicals be encouraged to cooperate with existing temperance agencies in matters of education and legislation in urging the passage of those bills in Congress that shall ban the advertising of alcoholic beverages and prohibit the sale and service of alcoholic beverages on airplanes.
