Believing that freedom is bestowed upon us by God and that it must be carefully protected from both the internal and external threat of international communism,

The National Association of Evangelicals affirms its support of governmental investigatory functions necessary for national security. Such functions must, however, be in accord with democratic procedures and must be limited and conducted in such a way that individual rights will not be unconstitutionally overridden.

We firmly believe that the national security, faced by forces which would destroy our constitutional form of government, requires the distribution of factual information on the nature of the Communist threat. Whether distributed by governmental or non-governmental agencies, the value of such information will be determined by its correspondence to the facts and by the clarity of perspective in which the facts are presented.
