The National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) welcomes news of progress in bipartisan negotiations led by Senators Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) and Thom Tillis (R-NC) on a package of immigration solutions addressing Dreamers, farm workers and border communities.

“We are encouraged that Senators Sinema and Tillis are leading this long overdue process, which is critical for the well-being of both our nation and for many of our immigrant neighbors,” said NAE President Walter Kim. “While the details are important, the broad outlines of a bipartisan deal have long been clear. We pray that Congress will come to an acceptable agreement and finish its work before the end of the year.”

A recent poll by Lifeway and World Relief found that 71 percent of American evangelical Christians believe it is important that Congress pass significant new immigration legislation this year. Eighty percent of evangelicals would support bipartisan immigration reform that strengthens border security, establishes a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers, and legally admits enough farmworkers.
