Nearly one-fifth of the human race in 32 countries of the world faces death by starvation because world food resources have dropped to a new low of 20 days’ supply. North America is one of the few regions that produces more than it can consume.

The National Association of Evangelicals is a fellowship of believers fortunate enough to live in this area of plenty. As followers of the compassionate Christ, we should be compassionate also, “going about doing good,” even as Christ did in His concern for the needs of the whole man.

The NAE, aware that the evangelistic task is executed within a. sociological context, has as its official humanitarian arm, the World Relief Commission. The WRC is helping feed the hungry, locate water sources and increase food production in 15 countries of the world.

THEREFORE, the National Association of Evangelicals calls on its total membership, both collectively and individually, to support this work of mercy by prayer and sacrificial giving; to keep themselves informed; and to share this information with others who want their financial resources to serve in a dual ministry of food for the body and food for the soul.
